Sambal Shiok

Authentic Malaysian laksa

Founded by Malaysian-born Mandy Yin, Sambal Shiok started life in 2013 as a street food stall. After a successful two years trading, Mandy turned her hand to a series of pop-ups, serving dishes inspired by her childhood in Kuala Lumpur, including her signature curry laksa. In 2018, she opened Sambal Shiok’s first bricks and mortar site on North London’s Holloway Road, which quickly became renowned for its steaming hot bowls of authentic laksa and Malaysian fried chicken. In 2020, Mandy released her first cookbook, Sambal Shiok, dedicated to the recipes, ingredients and culture of Malaysian cuisine.
